Jowita ("Jovita") has more than a decade of experience in a wide scope of practice areas, including injury and accident law, personal bankruptcy, business and contract disputes, copyright infringement, mortgage foreclosure defense, and civil appeals.
A native of Boston, Massachusetts, Jowita has lived in the Tampa Bay area since 2005. Jowita graduated from the University of Massachusetts summa cum laude in 1994 with a degree in English and Communication. In 1999, she earned her Juris Doctor cum laude at Suffolk University Law School, where she co-founded the Journal of High Technology Law.
Jowita is admitted to practice law in Florida, including the federal Middle District of Florida, as well as Massachusetts and New York.
Additionally, Jowita is active in the local arts community and is the founder of Florida Lawyers for the Arts, Inc., which provides affordable legal assistance for visual, performing, musical, and literary artists in the Tampa Bay area, Orlando, and Sarasota. Her further community involvement includes serving as editor of and regular contributor to Paraclete, the St. Petersburg Bar Association's monthly magazine. For several years, Jowita served as Vice President, board member, and volunteer of Community Law Program in St. Petersburg, Florida, which offers free legal services for the underserved. Jowita also enjoys teaching law-related courses at St. Petersburg College as well as serving as a guest speaker on the law for various legal, paralegal, arts, and civic organizations.
Jowita is fluent in spoken and written Polish; she has traveled extensively throughout Poland and Europe, and she has family in Warsaw, Wroclaw, and Krakow. She has also studied French, German, and Dutch.
